I hope you had a chance to read our last post regarding what CBD is and where it comes from.  Now, let’s talk about the four benefits of CBD Oil.

Key points to remember about CBD,

  1. CBD is NOT marijuana,
  2. CBD  is legal in ALL 50 states and
  3. CBD contains less than .3% THC (the part of the cannabis responsible for causing the “high” effect.)

Now let’s discuss just some of the many benefits that studies have shown CBD can offer. First though, please keep in mind that the FDA has classified CBD and other sustainable Hemp products as dietary supplements.  This means, no specific claims as to what diseases and conditions it may treat can be directly discussed.

CBD – nature’s amazing gift. Studies have shown that CBD has amazing results in the following areas;

Four Scientifically Proven Benefits of CBD oil

  1. Pain Relief
  2. Anti-seizure properties
  3. Combating anxiety
  4. Treat sleep issues

The human body contains a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is involved in regulating a variety of functions including sleep. appetite, pain and the immune response system. The body produces endocannabinoids which are neurotransmitters that bind the cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by impacting the endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.

As the environment affects our normal state of balance, the ECS system helps us by mediating our body’s reaction to external stimuli. Taking a CBD supplement can enhance your body’s ability to maintain homeostasis and manage physical and emotional stress as a result of changes to your immediate environment.

Anxiety and depression are common mental health disorders that can have devastating impacts on health and well being. Most often these issues are treated with pharmaceutical drugs, which can cause numerous side effects, including drowsiness, agitation, insomnia, and headaches, just to name a few. Studies using CBD oil for some of these issues have shown promising results.

Pain relief – studies have shown that the effects of CBD oil on your brain’s receptors may help manage pain. It’s thought that CBD interacts with receptors in the brain and immune system to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.

As ALWAYS we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider regarding options.

If all the scientific language is just too much, please just know this: the cannabinoid in CBD oil can help your body stay in balance (maintain homeostasis) by affecting the various systems in the body.

    Is there any evidence that yoga by itself aids with sleep?

      In Dec of 2018, Pres Trump signed the new Farm Bill Act which was instrumental in getting CBD into more tests to further the research on the efficacies of the claims made about CBD’s effect on Sleep. (it is no longer classified the same as marijuana). as such, I believe we are about to be inundated with studies that prove these claims. As such, here’s a link to a study on CBD for stress and Anxiety. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30624194 It does say that 66% of the participants reported better sleep, but it fluctuated over time. With the negligible risks of side effects, try it!
