By Jennifer Dixon MBA ERYT 500 – Have you heard? Our friends over at Mending Arrow Ranch have had a bunch of new baby goats come their way and have been working hard on getting these babies acclimated to children and yoga…so it is TIME! GOAT YOGA TIME!
Oh my Gosh, if you didn’t catch the Live Video I shot last weekend while visiting the ranch, you have GOT to watch it! These babies are adorable and LOVE PEOPLE!
Here’s the thing, Mending Arrow Ranch is an actual, live, working ranch and non-profit. It is run entirely on donations raised through events like these and desperately needs the funds to keep being able to serve their community completely free. Currently in residence at the ranch are 9 horses, over 20 goats (several of them recently donated), I’m not sure how many chickens and roosters, a pig, and 3 dogs. All of these animals are cared for like you and I would care for our pets…that’s because ALL of the animals serve a purpose;
Helping children
Kayla, owner of Mending Arrow Ranch has one mission; to help children and young girls through the love of animals. Her children all have some form of disability that she helps through animal husbandry. Whether it is learning how to ride a pony to help the child learn basic core stability, or learning how to brush a pony for the eye-hand coordination. With the young girls, life skills are taught with every visit, like remaining calm under different situations, responsibility, self-love, and self-respect:, all of the services are done completely free and with one mission in mind: To help the children.
Kayla doesn’t charge any of the families for the work she does with the children, so 100% of the proceeds from this event are desperately needed to keep this ranch funded, and operating. She currently serves 25 families and has a waiting list a mile long. All this service takes money, and what better way to raise money than with a little yoga, baby goats, and a LOT of fun!?
Last St. Patricks day, we met up at the ranch for the first time for Goat Yoga. We didn’t know what to expect, and we didn’t know how people would respond. It was a COMPLETE success! We had two completely sold out classes, and a ranch full of smiles laughs and good times. In addition, we were able to raise $1300 which was used to help pay for the Ranch’s Yearly Insurance premiums. Our goal for this fall event is to double that donation. Can you help us?
Saturday, October 20th at 2 pm and 4 pm we are going to meet up at the ranch for a great time with yoga, goats, and the farm! Spaces are limited, so please RSVP soon!
