With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill back in December, the market for CBD, or Cannabis products has exploded. What used to be pretty hard to come by just a year ago- now has a variety as big as the best Buffet in town. As a studio owner with a large selection of CBD products for sale in our retail, I try to stay on top of industry trends, but I will be honest, that’s nearly impossible!
In today’s review, I want to tell you about Oregon Trail CBD Pre-Rolls. These come in a container of 10 Filtered CBD tubes and are packaged exactly like cigarettes. They also just so happen to look exactly like cigarettes. Compared to the loose flower, I thought the idea of getting something pre-rolled and ready to smoke was not only super convenient, but the fact that they look exactly like a cigarette seemed like it could either be marketing genius or fiasco. This one container goes for $79 retail, which means each Roll is just under $8, which isn’t terrible comparatively –for those of us that live in locations that still do not have legal recreational marijuana use. I picked up just a few packs of these for the studio’s retail to try since clients had been asking for flower and smokeables and I thought it would be a great thing to test.
When you first get these Pre-Rolls, they come wrapped up in cellophane. It’s not quite an act of congress to get the wrapping off, but I definitely had to use my husband’s handy pocket knife. When you open it up, it has a very strong scent. It smells exactly like the “real” stuff.
I’ve asked my distributor how much CBD is in the product and I was told there was 180 mg of CBD in each tube. I will be honest, I am dubious about that claim because I’ve tried other products with far less CBD in it that seem to pack a larger punch. These are filtered tubes, however, and that may make an impact on the effectiveness of the product.
Now, I need to preface this review based on the fact that I was never a big fan of smoking–cigarettes or otherwise, and I tried this product solely so I could say that I had and so that I could have an honest answer when asked by my clients. I have not tried a ton of different CBD smokeable products, but I have to say these pre-rolled CBD tubes are strong. They smell strong, they have a harsh bite to them when you smoke them (so I’m coughing like a mid-60s’ life-long smoker each time I do smoke one of these), and they definitely do go the distance in terms of anxiety, pain, and stress relief.
I can’t smoke a full tube by myself so I usually sit on the couch after the kids are asleep and split it with my husband (and yes, I know that sounds both hilarious and –if you’re a parent of young kids at least–somewhat scandalous and fabulous at the same time. Ladies and gentleman, it is definitely both.
It usually takes us less than 10 minutes to smoke one tube. It smokes more like a cigarette than it does a joint, and since it is filtered, you don’t need any extra tools to help hold the tube as you smoke it down. It usually leaves me with a pretty big dry mouth and throat, but I honestly am so relaxed I don’t care a ton. Since we smoke these before bed, it is AMAZING had helping me to sleep. (which is a HUGE plus.) I don’t have major aches and pains but they definitely aren’t a problem after sharing one tube.
The biggest downfall about this product is that it doesn’t smoke as smoothly as several of the vape products I’ve tested as well as some other flower. (to be reviewed at a later date) Since it is on the harsh side, I wouldn’t be able to do this every night (so I don’t) and I usually opt to smoke this on an evening when my husband and I have a little extra time after the kids go to sleep and we want to catch up on Queen of the South.
Have you tried the Oregon Trail Filtered CBD tubes? What did you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts and I’d also love to hear what your favorites are. You can email me anytime at jennifer@thriveyogaandwellness.com.
