Born and raised in Chattanooga, I am a Southern “girl” through and through! I earned both my B.S. and my M.Ed. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I have taught reading and language arts for twenty-seven years in both public and private schools.
I am married to my soul mate and the man of my dreams, Bill. I have two adult children and an adult step-son. We also have a hyperactive dog named Greta!
My interest in fitness began in junior high (the equivalent of middle school, for you youngsters) when I realized I could be physically aware and fit without being athletic. Throughout high school and college, I “worked out” in one form or another – walking, calisthenics, and, yes, I admit, Jane Fonda and Denise Austin workouts – on VHS! When my son was a baby, I earned my group fitness certification from the Y and taught step aerobics. Over the years I dabbled in yoga, but it wasn’t until I came to Thrive Yoga and Wellness (aka Yoga East) that I fell in love with yoga and all it has to offer – for both physical and mental/emotional wellness.
I finished my teacher training in May of this year and became a 200 RYT with Yoga Alliance in June! Completing this program has given me a great sense of accomplishment, as well as making me realize how much more I need and want to learn. It is desire to share my love of yoga with others – as I continue to grow in knowledge and practice myself.
Namaste…
