Our very own recent graduate and studio member, Missy Crutchfield is currently on location in Crete, Greece getting certified in Kundalini Yoga with Maya Fiennes.
Kundalini is relatively new to our area and definitely to our studio, so I thought I would spend a few minutes letting the Master explain to us exactly what is Kundalini Yoga.
In this interview, Missy Crutchfield interviews Maya Feinnes of Maya Feinnes Yoga about Kundalini Yoga.
Maya gives us a brief introduction to Kundalini Yoga,
Maya tells us that
- originally, Kundalini Yoga, which is a Raja Yoga was specifically for masters and teachers.
- However, about 50 years ago Yogi Bhajan completely changed that when he started offering safe practices for people that were not the elite.
- Kundalini yoga incorporates specific Kriyas, or breathwork, mantra, chanting, meditation, specific poses (asanas), and even dancing to help awaken the the Kundalini energy we all have.
We are so excited to have one of our very own getting first hand training and experience in this new and exciting yoga practice. We can't wait for Missy to get home and share even more information about this beautiful practice!
